COMMUNITY HEALTH CLINIC
The health sector in Lebanon is in deep crisis. Medical coverage has become a commodity that only a small privileged percentage of the Lebanese society can attain; a luxury at times where health should be a basic right. |
The Office of Post Graduate Medical Education (PGME) at Saint George Hospital University Medical Center (SGHUMC) was founded in 2014 with a clear mission to provide, facilitate and maintain an academic and professional environment conducive to educating the residents and fellows. It is keen on ensuring a quality of care for patients that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable and patient centered.
The PGME Office provides a range of support services and access to resources for residents and fellows, including the following:
- Presenting a liaison between the residents/ fellows and the hospital: Medical Administration, Nursing Administration and the different hospital departments;
- Verifying the proper implementation of the residency program curriculum in coordination with the Faculty of Medicine – University of Balamand of each department/ division and monitoring the residents' activities in compliance with the departmental policies and procedures;
- Relaying information for residents regarding inter and intradepartmental hospital policy and procedures;
- Organizing the daily stay of the residents/ fellows at SGHUMC (accommodation rooms, meals, lockers, linen…) and performing improvement projects related to this matter;
- Act as intermediary in receiving and responding to residents’ incidents, interpersonal problems, and conflicts from different parties. Investigations are further done when necessary for taking proper disciplinary measures.
