Chairman of Department: Raja Ashou

The Medical Imaging Department is comprised of 11 full and part-time radiologists cover all radiological subspecialties including Chest, Musculoskeletal, Female, Cardiothoracic, Neurology, Pediatrics, Nuclear and Interventional Radiology imaging, and highly qualified and trained technicians and staff. The Department has a residency program registered in the American College of Radiologist (ACR) with nine residents.


The Department is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment performing around 95,000 yearly tests and offering outpatient services till 10 PM in the MRI units, till 7 PM in the CT scan and General Radiology units, till 4 PM in the ultrasound and mammogram units and till 3:30 pm in the Nuclear PET and SPECT scan units. 24-hours services are offered for ER patients, inpatients and patients requiring emergency interventional radiology procedures with around the clock radiographers, radiologists and residents.


The Department operates on an upgraded PACS system, linked to hospital wards and ER and accessible to hospital physicians. High efficiency levels are implemented in the test process where more than 90% of the exams reporting are confirmed in less than 16 hours.


The department is divided into several units:

1- CT scan unit: containing two of the most advanced CT scans performing all possible examinations including cardiac CT, CT Colonography, TAVI, CT perfusion...

 

2- Interventional Radiology unit: two angiography to meet the growing demand of sophisticated interventional procedures, including a various range of vascular, non-vascular and urological interventions.

 

3- Ultrasound unit: three ultrasound examination rooms including Obstetrics and Gynecology.

 

4- Women’s Center: a state-of-the-art unit dedicated to breast and female imaging.

 

5- Nuclear unit: A new PET and SPECT scan operated by highly qualified specialists in this field.

 

6- MRI unit: Includes a 1.5 and 3T machines performing advanced MRI examinations for the different body parts.

 

Moreover, the department has several x-ray units with dedicated flat panel units meeting the daily growing needs of the hospital and clinics. Multiple portable x-ray units are available for imaging patients on the floor, in the pre-admission unit and the OR.
