On the afternoon of Tuesday, May 27, 2025, His Eminence Metropolitan Elias Audi, Archbishop of Beirut and its Dependencies, inaugurated the newly renovated Emergency Department at Saint George Hospital University Medical Center in Beirut. This department was restored following the August 4, 2020 explosion, which had directly impacted the hospital.
The renovation was made possible through a generous donation from The Big Heart Foundation, allowing the department to expand and enhance its diagnostic capabilities, minor surgical procedures, and specialized sections for both pediatric and adult care. The facility is now equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment to provide the best possible patient care.
The inauguration was attended by several distinguished guests, including Deputy Prime Minister of Lebanon and President of Saint George University in Beirut, Dr. Tarek Mitri, His Excellency Fahad Salem Saeed Mohamed AlKaabi - Chargé d'Affaires of the UAE Embassy in the Lebanese Republic, H.E. Ms. Mariam Al Hammadi, Member of the Advisory Board of The Big Heart Foundation, and H.E. Ms. Alya Al Musaiebi, Director of The Big Heart Foundation. Also were present a team from The Big Heart Foundation and the UAE Embassy in Lebanon, Saint George Hospital Board of Directors, the CEO Dr. Marwan Najjar, the Hospital management, doctors, nurses, and staff.
