H.E. Metropolitan Elias, Archbishop of Beirut and its dependencies, has appointed Dr. Ziad Haydar as the Chief Executive Officer of Saint George Hospital University Medical Center.
Dr. Haydar is a senior healthcare executive and geriatrician with over 20 years of experience in large national system and integrated regional healthcare settings across the USA. He has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer at Ascension Health and Ascension Healthcare, St. Louis, Missouri, where he led the design and implementation of large-scale clinical and financial interventions across the healthcare enterprise and drove strategies to align physicians and caregivers. His work covered multiple dimensions of health care including patient safety, clinical reliability, financial efficiency, and patient experience.
Dr. Haydar also held leadership positions at Baylor Health Care System, Dallas, Texas. At Baylor, his role started in Geriatric Program Development and evolved to leadership roles as the Vice President of Health Care Improvement. He led successful interdisciplinary collaboration in hospital quality improvement, operating room efficiencies, and physician contracting. His latest role was as the Chief Medical Officer of Alpine Physician Partners, preparing primary care practices for population health and financial risk.
Dr. Haydar’s experience also includes extensive Board and Board Committee service spanning over two decades.
Dr. Haydar earned his medical degree at the American University of Beirut, and completed his residency training at the Medical University of South Carolina. Following his residency, he completed a Geriatric Medicine Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from the Cox School of Business, Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas.
