Key Responsibilities:
♦ Conducts audits and inspections to verify proper implementation of policies, protocols and procedures related to aseptic techniques, isolation protocols, hospital cleanliness, environment and sanitation, disinfection, sterilization and waste management and communicates relevant observations and remarks to the Infection Control Preventionist – Advanced Level and those responsible for patient care
♦ Interacts with physicians, nurses, department managers, supervisors, and occupational health and other professional/non-professional staff members to provide resource information, resolve infection control problems, and identify new opportunities to improve service and reduce costs
♦ Implements techniques for prevention of nosocomial infections. Includes routine surveillance through making rounds and visiting locations, reporting of cases, completing related forms, discussing infection control practices with other hospital staff and reporting to the Infection Control Preventionist – Advanced Level for review and action
♦ Participates in investigating clusters of infections and/or outbreaks. Includes taking cultures and samples from various locations in the hospital, sending concerned laboratory for analysis, following up on results and reporting to the Infection Control Preventionist – Advanced Level
♦ Collects data, fills related forms, conducts data analysis and participate in preparing reports.
♦ Participates in preparing for orientation, training education and awareness campaigns and programs on infection prevention
♦ Performs other related duties, such as keeping abreast of new techniques, standards and recommendations in Infection Control, exploring alternative products for use as and when required, following up on international products recalls, alerts and bans, collaborating where needed with the Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) attending infection control-oriented workshops and training conferences
Job Requirements:
♦ B.S. in Public Health or Health Sciences with preferably at least 1 year of experience in infection control
♦ Good communication skills
♦ Detail oriented
♦ Computer literate and statistical analysis skills
♦ Good knowledge of spoken and written Arabic, French/ English
