Back Senior Strategic Communications Director

Job Summary: 

Under the strategic direction of the Vice President for Advancement and Business Development (VPABD), and working closely with the hospital related entities, the Senior Strategic Communications Director will be responsible for the development and implementation of the marketing and communications strategy. He/she will be responsible for developing effective messaging, communication, and marketing strategies to raise the visibility of the SGHUMC and its advocacy efforts. The Senior Strategic Communications Director will be expected to develop and implement creative and measurable communications and marketing plans that encompass advertising, public relations, market research, publications, digital/social media, events, media relations and other aspects of strategic marketing; and lead the budget to support the Office of Marketing and Strategic Communication.

Key Responsibilities:

♦ Develops, implements, evaluates and refines a comprehensive marketing strategy designed to help the SGHUMC advances and achieves key institutional goals.
♦ Develops and implements a long-term, informed communications and marketing vision, strategy, and execution, including identification of target audiences, development of key messages, distribution on relevant channels, and measurement of the results.
♦ Uses innovative marketing strategies to build relationships, enhance institutional reputation, strengthen the SGHUMC brand.
♦ Develops and assesses measurable goals and objectives that advance the strategic framework as well as marketing objectives.
♦ Directs the daily activities of the Hospital Strategic communications department to achieve maximum impact with various constituencies, including policymakers, opinion leaders, employees, donors and citizens of Lebanon and beyond.
♦ Plans and conducts market research.
♦ Leads and manage issues/reputational/crisis communications strategy and execution in coordination with the VPABD.
♦ Ensures high quality and consistency in communications and branding.
♦ Collaborates with various teams, members, and partner organizations to translate strategy into integrated communications plans, deployment, and facilitates organizational alignment.
♦ Reviews SGHUMC’s external messages and collateral, including press releases, attributed quotes, event scripts, talking points, prepared remarks, social media posts, marketing collateral, website content and other communications and marketing materials.
♦ Oversees the design, production, and distribution of all SGHUMC publications.
♦ Responsible for creating, implementing, and measuring the success of comprehensive and innovative communications, marketing, and digital engagement programs that will enhance the image and position of the hospital and elevates the effectiveness of internal and external communications.
♦ Oversees the development of, SGHUMC’s digital and social media strategy, campaigns, and content to further the hospital mission.
♦ Oversees the development of, hospital web content and design to ensure it is aligned with organizational branding and messages, and that relevant information is easily accessible through efficient site navigation and functionality.
♦ Leads the development and execution of a topnotch media relations strategy to elevate SGHUMC’s reputation, advocacy messages, and overall organizational goals, through relationship building with targeted media, placing stories, and timely response to media requests.
♦ Manages the coordination of public relations and marketing campaigns, program promotion, and member engagement efforts.
♦ Responsible for the achievement of communications and marketing mission, goals, and financial objectives. Ensures that evaluation systems are in place related to these goals and objectives and reports progress to the VPABD.
♦ Develops short- and long-term plans and budgets for the communications and marketing program and its activities, monitors progress, and evaluates performance.
♦ Recommends short- and long-term goals and objectives to the VPABD.
♦ Provides direction, guidance, and support to bring out the best from a diverse team of staff operating under tight deadlines and often-changing priorities.
♦ Maintains a climate that attracts, retains, and motivates talented personnel.
♦ Ensures effective management within the communications and marketing function.

Job Requirements: 

♦ Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, public relations, or related field. Graduate or Master’s degree in a related field is desirable.
♦ Minimum 8 years of experience in strategic marketing communications.
♦ Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in marketing and communications strategy.
♦ Minimum 8 years progressively responsible experience with demonstrated success in communications, media relations, public affairs, marketing, and digital communications strategy and administration or a combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
♦ Outstanding project management skills.
♦ Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills that include a combination of candor, tactfulness, and good rapport in a variety of situations.
♦ Demonstrated ability to responsibly manage a budget.
♦ Demonstrated success in managing, supporting and motivating staff
♦ Creative and strategic application of digital and social media technologies.
♦ Experience and expertise in marketing, media relations, public affairs, crisis communications, issues management, social media and public relations.
♦ Expert knowledge of brand management, technical project planning and implementation.
♦ Proven record in identifying and achieving measurable strategic communications goals, strategies, and tactics.
♦ Demonstrated ability to discern a strategy to move forward and make or escalate decisions as appropriate.
♦ Ability to manage confidential tasks or situations requiring sensitivity and discretion.
♦ Demonstrated success in managing projects and processes, often involving cross-functional and/or organization-wide initiatives. Strong record of effectiveness in managing challenging and stressful situations, with changing priorities. Ability to adjust thinking in emergency situations and apply administrative policies to novel situations.
♦ Superior organizational skills, with an ability to work independently, meet deadlines, exercise considerable judgment, discretion, and initiative in coordinating and overseeing the work of others, and in managing multiple projects to completion.
♦ Ability to research, report and facilitate discussion on complex subjects. Able to present data in a manner that enables clear understanding of interests and options for improved decision making.
♦ Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, planning and change management skills.
♦ Ability to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
♦ Experience developing and managing budgets and hiring, training, developing, supervising, and evaluating personnel.
♦ Employs strategies and approaches to ensure and improve inclusion, diversity, and equity-based outcomes within the organization and across SGHUMC policies, programs, and services.
♦ Establishes and maintains effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
