Key Responsibilities:
♦ Collects soiled linen and other laundry items from the Hospital Floors/Units, puts them into carts and delivers to laundry or throws in chute
♦ Places cart at chute door at laundry area, removes soiled linen and fills cart with same, pulls cart to dirty area, empties, counts and weighs soiled linen and sorts same according to type, department and degree of soil. Isolates bags labeled contaminated for special wash
♦ Loads sorted linen according to type and degree of soil into the respective washing machine pockets for washing and operates machine according to preset instructions. Includes observing washing machines during the washing process. Ensuring proper flow of water, correct temperature, etc.…. and reports malfunction to supervisor/assistant supervisor for action or directly contacts the PME department as relevant.
♦ Removes washed items from washing machines to clean carts, separates items for drying into tumblers or drying machines. Includes monitoring of sheets feeding into tumbler to avoid wrinkling.
♦ Retrieves items from tumbler. Inspects same for stains, separates stained items and sends back to dirty area. Sorts none stained according to type and stacks them in their respective carriages to place on assigned shelves or floors carts placed in store. Delivers sorted linen items to various locations in the hospital.
♦ Delivers clean green linen to CSR.
♦ Operates pressing machines, removes wrinkles from pressed items, and segregates, shapes and sorts by name or number. Includes using hand ironer for certain pieces according to fabric and type.
Job Requirements:
♦ Completion of basic education
♦ 3 months on the job training
♦ Simple working knowledge of Arabic, English or French
