GREEK ORTHODOX ORGANIZATION FOR DEVELOPMENT AND AID
(GOODA)

Who we are

GOODA is a non-profit, non-governmental, Greek organization dedicated to helping Lebanese communities reach their full potential.

Who we serve
GOODA contributes towards the improvement of the socio-economic status of urban and rural communities in Lebanon. Our nonprofit work extends assistance to all people, regardless of their religious beliefs, gender, race or ethnic background.

Why we serve
GOODA is a Greek Orthodox relief and development organization dedicated to helping Lebanese communities reach their full potential by contributing to their sustainable development.  By our demonstration of God's love through our work, we hope that people will experience life in all its fullness.

How we serve
Relationships are the starting point and the end goal of GOODA’s work.

Through relationships with community leaders, GOODA helps communities set goals they can achieve by partnering with churches, governments, local organizations, other NGOs, and international agencies.

Mission
The mission of GOODA is to strengthen and empower communities by fostering innovation, creating knowledge and promoting social progress and change.
We advance our mission through the four program areas detailed below.

Priority Areas
The Sustainable Community Development and Social Change Program improves long-term educational, social, health and economic outcomes for individuals and families by increasing access to critical resources such as healthcare, housing, employment, nutrition and other basic needs, thus fostering and sustaining their full integration in the society.

The Capacity Building Program empowers communities and institutions towards development and self reliance, enhances their capacity to save lives and develop options for sustainable livelihoods, through human, material and structural resources development.

The Innovations in Science and Technology Program advances promising research and new technology development that have the potential to expand knowledge, improve health, and protect the environment.

The Volunteer Program encourages and enhances the way individuals of all age groups: adolescents and adults, men and women, including retired persons, to be involved in addressing community and institutional needs.

Our Vision
We believe these priorities are fundamental to social progress and change, and to building healthy communities. In addition, our intent is to transcend existing boundaries of knowledge and inspire new ways of thinking that promote just development.

We think that GOODA’s targeted approach and alignment will have a profound impact on the work our grantees can accomplish—translating into opportunities for personal inquiry, academic achievement, community development, scientific breakthroughs and more.

EXCLUSIONS
In general, GOODA will not consider requests for:

  • Projects not aligned with the Organization’s specified program areas
  • Direct grants, scholarships, or loans for the benefit of individuals
  • Projects of organizations whose policies or practices discriminate on the basis of ethnic origin, gender, race and religion
